grandpa

Grandpa had some surgery the day before his birthday.
These two pictures are from the day of the surgery.
He got a little silly.

"I think Robert gave grandpa something between truth serum and laughing gas. Grammy and I laughed at Grandpa's stories until I thought we were going to cry! He kept saying that he just had to keep talking. He talked non-stop during my whole hour and a half visit! He hardly took a breath in between stories, and Grammy and I could hardly get any word in. He said his pain was at a '1', so kudos to Dr. Thomas. :-)
Lots of love!

"One more thing about the pictures . . . In the pic of Grammy and Grandpa, I asked them to look at me and smile and Grandpa wouldn't look. He said, "I am looking at her adoringly." Just wanted to make sure you got that caption. :-)"

"I wish I could have been there.  It sounds like fun.   It is a tribute to Dad/Grandpa that with the truth serum he is still happy and positive.  It show what is in his core.  I am sure if I got the truth serum I would not be so delightful!!!

--Leland"
Grandpa's surgery went well and he is recovering nicely.

Here's a picture of Leland Heywood, Grandpa's dad.
I thought I would give him a shoutout today since it is his birthday.
Fun facts:
He was born on April 17, 1892.
We called him Granddaddy.
He was 40 years old when Grandpa was born, almost 41.
Grandpa was 40 years old when I was born.
Grandpa was born April 10, 1933.
I was born April 30, 1973.

So, how old are we today?
Grandpa just turned 81 years old.
I'm going to be 41 years old on the 30th.
Granddaddy would be 122 years old today!!

We like to spread out the generations in the Heywood family.

it's summer

The calendar may not say that it's summer, but the thermometer says it is.
We have had temps in the 90s already.
I don't think the novelty of having a pool is going to wear off anytime soon.
The hotter it gets, the more enticing the pool becomes.

Quinny was not expecting Robyn to toss her off of the rock.
And no one anticipated Quinny leaning forward.
She came out of the water in tears that lasted for some time.
Our giggles lasted just as long.
We thought it looked like a belly flop, but she told us it was a leg slap.
Robert was shivering, and Robyn couldn't quit laughing at him.
Mia looks like she can almost walk on water and has a bloody nose.
Quinny's just cute.

extended spring break

Daniel, Lucas, Jacob, Lauren, & Jesse
Our friends, the Taylors, visited for their spring break.
They live in Utah, and their break, unfortunately, doesn't coincide with our break.
It was fun, warm, relaxing, and filling - we ate a ton of food.
Robert was in charge of the food.
We had enough for at least two weeks.
If was fantastic!
