field trip friday (or posing on rocks)

This was Mia's list for her Friday activities.
Even though she didn't check everything off, you can rest assured that it was completed.
Although I'm not sure how she went crazy.
I'll have to ask her.
By the way, my daily mental to-do list has "go crazy" on it, and it is always checked off.
I think we are talking about two different kinds of crazy.
We slowly, ever so slowly, hiked the Wind Cave trail yesterday.
Quinn insisted on climbing every rock she came to.
She also wanted a picture at almost every rock.
She fell down a couple of times and bloodied her knee.
That is why her pants are rolled up on one side.

At one point, Robyn and Mimi were blazing their own trail up the dry river bed.
It took them a few minutes, but they eventually made it back to the designated trail.
You can see in the above picture Quinn's hiking technique.
It is a contributing factor to why she frequently ends up on all fours.

Quinny really liked this cactus and wanted a picture of it with her in it.
This picture shows her unibrow that she drew on the day before.
I thought I had washed off all of the "whiskers" in the shower, but I guess I missed a few.

We never did make it to the Wind Cave.
However, it was a gorgeous day full of laughs and tears.

christmas day

We started our christmas day at Grammy and Grandpa's house.
We had a delicious dinner around 2pm and then headed over to Grandma's house for another delicious dinner around 5pm.
We were fat and happy!
I had an unexpected friend, Sheena, show up at my parents' house, so I handed the camera to Robert and went back to my parents' for a nice visit.
At some point Robert must not have wanted to take the pictures, because he was in a few of them.

 Rise and Shine
The children were nestled all snug in their beds...
 Just kidding.
They were just patiently waiting for Robert to find out if he had to go into work.
Luckily, he didn't.

 Merry Christmas!

christmas eve

We spent Christmas Eve at the Heywood household.
We started with dinner and then moved on to our traditional retelling of the birth of Jesus.
After that we have our talent show where anything goes (for the most part).
The handcuffs were brought by Mimi.
All of the kids took turns with them.
Quinny and Allison got into a little scuffle about wether or not those were real elves on the shelf (or tree).
Allison was getting upset because Quinny was touching them and she thought their magic would go away.
 "DON'T TOUCH THE ELF, QUINNY!!"
Grandpa was in charge of the story telling/program.

There was a lot of singing, piano playing, and dancing.

 This was my favorite part.
Ricky had a power point presentation in which he told us all about the ongoing story of the Heywood family.
He was showing us what actors would play what parts when our story is made into a movie.

Keegan did karate out in the front yard.
He was so fast that I wasn't able to adjust my camera in time to get a good picture.
Ashely was recovering from surgery that night.
She really didn't want her picture taken, but I got one anyway.  He he.
She's still adorable no matter what.
Last, but not least, the opening of the presents.
The kids, young and not so young, loved their gifts, despite the tears by Victoria in this picture.
