"stuff that addi got or did" (a post by mia)

This is a monkey that I made.  As you can see one of its legs has come off.
Guess how it came off?
Well.........................................................................
addi was playing with it and she pulled on it too hard and it came off.
You are probably thinking that I'm pretty sad
thees are some pictures of a little toy train that  addi got from Wendy's.

thees are some other pictures of one of addi's little water pen books.

If you look closely the book says head for fun.

little miss independent

Quinny woke up yesterday feeling fiercely independent.
She had already dressed herself in her favorite outfit before she came searching for me.
She had made her bed.
She insisted on brushing her own hair.
And she wanted me to teach her how to wipe her #2s (I didn't take a picture of that - you're welcome).

What is that on her wrist you are asking?
Well, she had a minuscule scratch there, and she decided the best remedy was a wet, wadded up piece of toilet paper placed directly on it - duh!
Problem solved.
This child speaks her mind, is delightful, determined, funny, and engaging.
She cracks me up and I can't imagine my world without her.

field trip friday

What can I say?
They talked me into it.
Mia kept saying that she wanted to go on Field Trip Friday with us.
She had also decided that Field Trip Friday needed to consist of pedicures.
I was determined it was not going to be pedicures.
In the end, they got them.
I had the girls do some jobs before we left.
I didn't find this list that Mia had written until we got home - awesome!

After the pedicures, we went to Zushi, the Japanese/Chinese restaurant next door.
Yum, Yum, Yum!
 Mia's face says it all!

Robyn snapped this pretty little pic while I was helping Haley pump some gas.
It's all part of the learning-to-drive process.
Having fun, Haley?
P.S.  I did make the offer to Eric to join us.
He opted out.

thanksgiving 2012

On the day before Thanksgiving, Mimi's school had a fun run.
It wasn't very long, but it was fun!
Quinny and I had a great time running with Mia.
After we ran, Mimi and Quinny got to enjoy Otter Pops.

On Thanksgiving morning, Robert, Shelle, Robyn, Karen, Rick, Shana, Victoria, and I all ran/walked in the Mesa Turkey Trot.
It was a gorgeous morning for running, but I think Robert overdid it.
He had a headache for the rest of the day.
We both decided we are going to run more this year and get better times next year.
Grammy always sets a beautiful table for any holiday and this Thanksgiving was no exception.
It is something to aspire to for sure!
We ate dinner with the Heywood side this year.
We were thoroughly stuffed with fantastic food by the end of the day!
Before dinner we were all smiles!!!
 Uncle Bob carving the bird.
I think he is the family expert when it comes to meat products.
Ashley, Grammy, and Haley are all smiles.
 Grammy giving instructions.
Shelle and Grandpa are all smiles.
After dinner the smiles faded and the comas started to appear.
They hit some of us harder than others.
 Robyn with a waning smile.
 Robert is completely knocked out!
Ashley can only muster a slight grin.
 Chase and Bob are gone.
Grandpa is snoring behind the green couch.
I don't think the little ones ever lose their smiles!
They are also the only ones smart enough to quit eating when they are full!!
Or as Grammy would say, "They had sufficiency of enoughness."

lucky 13

Eric celebrated his 13th birthday yesterday.
He started out by sleeping in - his favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning.
He skipped breakfast and had a lunch of fettucine alfredo with the grandparents.
He requested an assortment of cookies for dessert - YUM!
We caught the end of the ASU game.
They destroyed Washington!
Me, Robyn, Eric, & Mason

Later that evening we all went bowling.
We had a great time!!

Eric is the best son we could ever ask for.
Happy Birthday!
Mimi and I got up bright and early to participate in the ward Turkey Trot.
Quinny mistakenly called it the Chicken Walk yesterday, which I think more accurately describes what Mia and I did.
Mia started out with great aspirations.
She was determined to run three miles, so that was the course we started on.
She had abundant energy until she got about a quarter mile into it, then she decided two miles sounded a little better.
At about one mile she wanted to turn around, but at that point, we had to continue on the two-mile course.
We literally went through orange groves, over rocks, around bushes, in the street, on the sidewalk, and through a little mud.
(We didn't quite stay on the designated course the whole way.)
It was an adventure.
There was laughter and a little whining.
There was a little running and a lot of walking.
There was a little skipping, galloping, and even trotting.
We came in dead last.
We might have enjoyed it the most.
I think the only thing that kept Mia going was the promise of a doughnut at the end of the race.

braces

Grammy and I took the girls to the Arizona Museum for Youth in Mesa.
It is quite possible Grammy and I had more fun than the girls.
They have a huge exhibit going on right now all about money.
At one point, Quinny had a cup full of fake money.
I said to her, "Wow, Quinny!  You're rich!"
She said, "I'm not rich.  I just have a lot of money."

Grammy and Grandpa joined us for a chilly Saturday morning soccer game.
It was Eric's last game of the season.
They start up again in January.
I have to admit, I enjoy watching the games here in Arizona much more than in Ohio.
I HATE being cold - hate it.
I would so much rather sweat than shiver.

Eric's team won this last game!
Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of him in action.
There's always next season.
Robert, Grandpa, Grammy, Haley, Robyn, Quinny, and Mimi
This is Allison and Quinny the day after they spent the night at Shelle's house.
They were being really quiet in Grammy's basement, so we went to check on them.
This is what we found.
They had set themselves up with their own pillows and blankies and tucked themselves in for the afternoon.
And for the big event this week ---- Robyn is a brace face!
Uncle David set her up with a new grill.
She'll be sporting these pretty little things for a year or so.
She has been a little sore all week.
There's nothing quite like the pain from braces.
She was a little reluctant to let me take her picture, but I persisted.
 Isn't she cute?
